William Garver
Lead Pastor
Pastor Bill has a passion for seeing people grow and reach their potential in Praise and service to others. We are a church that touches across generations to reach all families. Waynedale is just a perfect place to grow and invest in the people and community. He is married to Cindy, a Deacon in the United Methodist Church. Come and see us! Blessings!
Cheryl and Andy McCormick
Nursery
Cheryl states, “God blessed my late husband and I with three incredible and gifted sons – Andy, Chris & Joe.” Cheryl also has one dog, two cats, and a turtle.
Andy has a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and teaches at Purdue Fort Wayne. He enjoys reading, computers, restoration, taking care of the yard and garden, and spending time with his pets and human family.
Andy and Cheryl enjoy participating in various church activities, especially the nursery on Sunday mornings!
Laurie Sorg
Preschool Director & Teacher
Laurie has been serving at Waynedale UMC Preschool since 1998. She has previous experience working in Fort Wayne Community Schools’ special needs programs for 9 years. She studied 2 years at the University of Saint Francis and 2 years at IPFW.
Peggy Stookey
Finance Manager
Peggy has been managing Waynedale UMC’s finances with integrity since 2022. She has been a UMC member for over 40 years and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Jeanette Walsh
Director of Christian Arts
Jeanette Walsh has been leading worship at Waynedale UMC for many years. She is a retired music teacher, having taught choral music at the high school and middle school- level all of her life. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and a Master’s in Education. She is the organist, director of the Chancel Choir, and director of the handbell choir.
Cheryl McCormick and Cindy Garver
Office Managers
Cheryl was raised in Waynedale and at Waynedale UMC. She enjoyed early retirement and now job-shares the church office duties with Cindy and is loving it!
Cindy is an ordained deacon who is devoted to building bridges between our church and community. She finds joy in answering God’s call to serve, spending time with her hubby and senior pup, gardening and cooking healthy food.
Becca Amstutz
Children and Family Director
Becca is a seminary graduate who is passionate about equipping people to grow in relationship with Jesus. She is an aunt to 19 and loves to invest in their lives. Becca is self described as a “cartoon character. Singing, Dancing, and Bright Colors are my thing!”
Jim Courtney
Director of Praise Band
Jim graciously joined the staff in 2011 as the director of the praise band. He has a passion and love for music that he enjoys sharing with parishioners every weekend. He feels very blessed to be given this gift and the opportunity to share it.
Susan Dunn
Custodian
Susan has 2 grown daughters, Melissa and Nicole, along with 6 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Some of Susan’s hobbies are refinishing furniture, sewing, artwork, crafts, building steel sailboats, and outdoor activities. She was born in Fort Wayne and is a longtime resident of Waynedale. Susan comes from a family of 10.
