Health Policies

General Health Guidelines

The school will make every effort to protect the health and safety of your child, but we ask that you follow these guidelines to help us keep everyone safe:

• A health form completed by the child’s physician must be on file for each student. Be certain all immunizations are up to date.

• If a child has any symptoms of sickness such as a sore throat, coughing, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, skin rash, or eye infection, he/she is to be kept home.

• Students must be symptom- and fever-free for 24 hours to return to school.

• If a child becomes ill at school, the parents will be called immediately to pick up their child.

• Please notify the school office if your child is sick or contracts a contagious disease. Always call your doctor for diagnosis in any illness.

Accident Procedures

Should an accident occur during the school session we will immediately contact the parents. If the parents are not available, the emergency contact number on the student information sheet will be called. In the event the emergency contact does not answer, your child will be taken to the hospital.

Inclement Weather

Miscellaneous

Field Trips
Information about the details of the trip will be sent home prior to each field trip. Please read these notices carefully to be sure your child can attend and enjoy the trips!

Notes
Notes concerning all school events and updates will be sent home to keep parents informed. Please read these notes carefully.

Drop-off
All goodbyes should be said at the drop-off door. This allows the staff to attend to the needs of the students. Tears usually dry more quickly if the parent or guardian leaves immediately!

Messages from Home
If you need to relay information to the faculty or staff, please send a written note or call the school office at 260-241-6683. Verbal messages from children can be unreliable.

Dress Code
Children should wear play clothing. Consider your child’s comfort and provide simple clothing that helps them be self-reliant when using the restroom or putting on a coat. Gym or other rubber-soled shoes are best.

Special Activities
Information on snacks, show & tell, birthdays, and more will be shared at orientation.

Conferences & Evaluations

Readiness screening for students will take place 3 times a year — Fall, mid-year and early Spring. A copy of each screening will be provided to parents so they can track their child’s progress.

If a teacher feels a parent-teacher conference is in the best interest of the child, the parents will be notified. If you desire an additional conference at any time, please contact your child’s teacher to schedule an appointment.
